The 2017 Series will host seven events with each event providing an opportunity to earn points for the overall Series Championships. We understand that some boat and cable riders might be stronger in one discipline than the other. We also understand that progression can happen at a rapid pace, and we absolutely encourage riders to "move up" a class as their capabilities improve. The Georgia Wake Series points system accommodates both scenarios by allowing a rider to jump up or down a class depending on their skill level at the time or in a specific discipline. The rider will earn points towards the State Championships at each stop, regardless of the class.
A rider's State Championships Class will be designated based on the highest classification in which he or she rides. For example, an Intermediate rider who participates in five boat stops as an Intermediate, but rides the Terminus stop as a Beginner, will earn points under each respective class at each event and be eligible for the Intermediate State Championships. A young shredder who rides the first two stops as a Junior Beginner, but then adds a few new tricks and rides the remaining four stops in the Men's or Women's Intermediate class, will be eligible for the Men's or Women's Intermediate Series Championships. We have looked at points scoring systems for various sports across the action sports landscape and have applied aspects from Moto, Surf, and Skate in creating a structure that should provide a summer of fun and perhaps some suspense when we wrap up with the State Championships in September.
Disclaimer: As with any points-accumulation type series, there is potential for abuse of the system. We're a grassroots wakeboard series - and we reserve the right to prevent sandbagging and manipulation of the Series Points system. Sole discretion rests with Georgia Wake Series and our independent judges.
